About

If you are a wine lover and you enjoy thrilling stories this is the right place for you!

Good wine is a pleasure, both physical and intellectual. Wine is not only the most complex and thrilling beverage that man crafted, it is also part of our culture, tradition and history.

Knowing a wine’s history, the food it’s paired with, its traditions and the geography (terroir) of its place – or even just a good story to accompany it – adds to the pleasure wine can bring.

This blog’s mission is twofold. Firstly, to merge the feelings of stories, poetry, music, and other forms of art with the emotions that (good) wines spark.

Secondly, to provide you with knowledge of wine and its places – but always through good stories 😉

All the content in Wine and other Stories is original and written first hand by its creator (see below). The blog content is the result of research, study, imaginative efforts, wine tastings. You are more than welcome to share, but please ask for permission before using this site’s contents for any purpose.

About the author

Antonio-Capurso-founder

My name is Antonio Capurso, I’m an Italian wine lover living in London – UK.

When I was a kid my parents mocked me because I used to systematically smell everything I ate or drank. Aromas and flavours always thrilled me. In hindsight, that was the forerunner of my passion for wine.

I have always adored wine as far as I can remember. Wine has a special place in Italian culture. A good meal without nice wine is like a day without the sun (ok… here in UK this proverb does not really apply!).

Curiously, my academic journey into wine only started when I moved to London. After attending some excellent wine courses by Michael Schuster, I joined the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET). There I completed the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines. I regularly attend major wine tastings in London and abroad.

Among my favourite wines are the great reds of Italy (but of course I’m biased!) – Barolo, Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti, Taurasi; Northern Rhone syrah; German and Alsatian rieslings. But I find hidden gems everywhere, and I’m happy to share these with you
